Australians attend Greyhound races regularly. Four different bodies govern the racing industry. Distances of races range from 274 to 840 meters with up to 10 dogs in each race. Similar to Ireland the race cards are less detailed than those in the USA and the UK with sectional times often absent.

Four different bodies govern the racing industry. The Greyhound Racing Authority that govern the racing in New South Wales with 41 racetracks in its jurisdiction. Another authority govern the races in Queensland with 12 racetracks. The Western Australia Authority governs 15 tracks in Victoria and Melbourne. The GRSA controls racing tracks in South Australia
