Dogs have been racing in Ireland since 1927.  Over the last few years the sport has boomed in Ireland increasing crowd numbers and prizes’ amounts and today the Irish Greyhound Derby is probably the world’s most important greyhound racing competition.

Ireland’s breeders are considered the best in the world, and Ireland breed dogs often race in UK tracks.

In terms of betting, bettors can either use on-track bookmakers or use the track totalisator. One major problem of placing a bet on races in Ireland is that the race cards are not as detailed as the ones in the UK or USA. For example, the majority of tracks in Ireland do not give sectional times on their race cards.
