All greyhounds that race at a National Greyhound Racing Club (NGRC) racecourses are required to a minimum of three trials before allowed to race in competitive company where betting is allowed.
The trials serve to ascertain the greyhound’s ability and to match it with others of similar ability.
Once the new greyhound has completed the required trials, it ready to embark on what will usually be a rewarding career.
